Matthew Stafford, quarterback Detroit Lions listed on the injury report Friday with a hip injury, it is now doubtful for him to play in Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Stafford has the issue with his back; he has faced this back problem in the past as well and now it has arisen again this week, as per a source. Stafford most likely will play the game on Sunday, the source said, however, the team wants him to be monitored and examined him more over the weekend.
Stafford has been on the injury report list prior to Friday and has not been sacked since Week 1 against Arizona. After the practice, he was spotted in the locker room but did not appear to be limited in any movement.
So far, Stafford has completed 67 of 107 passes for 831 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions in this season. He has started 131 consecutive games for Detroit starting from the 2011 season.
Followed by Philip Rivers and Matt Ryan, Stafford’s starting streak is the third-longest active streak among quarterbacks. While playing Rivers, Stafford said ha can start as many games in a row as he and Rivers have.
“I think there’s a lot that goes into it,” Stafford said. “Some of it is luckily being able to play through some of the stuff that you have. Sometimes you have stuff that the quarterback position can’t play through. Other times you can.
