On Friday, a Republican senator told that he discovered that President Donald Trump was tying military aid for Ukraine to an inquiry of the 2016 election. However, the senator also said that when he asked President Trump that if he could guarantee the Ukraine administration that the money would be coming, the president blocked him from carrying that message.
Senator told that the U.S. Ambassador to the European Union, told him about the Ukraine aid, which is part of the country’s defences against Russia, was being linked to Trump’s desire investigate the 2016 U.S. elections.
He also added that President Trump had blocked his proposal that he will take a message to Ukraine’s president guaranteeing him that U.S. military aid was on the way. Senator told that “I was surprised by the president’s reaction and realized we had a sales job to do”.
However, last week in Washington, the senator has largely stood by President Trump and told reporters that he considers the whole complaint against the president was ignited by a government whistleblower’s allegations which have been “blown way out of proportion.”
“I’m completely sympathetic with President Trump wanting to get the truth, where did this Russia narrative begin?” the senator told about the 2016 election.
The senator was one of those who flew to Ukraine in May, with Energy Secretary. On his return, he joined others to narrate Trump in the Oval Office.
