Redskins RB Adrian Peterson to be inactive vs. Eagles

The Redskins restored Adrian Peterson’s career and gave him a gigantic new contract. After all that, now he will not even be on the field in the first game of 2019.

As per the sources, surprisingly Peterson to be seen inactive as the Redskins play against the Eagles today. After gaining 1,042 yards last year, averaging 4.2 yards per rush in a comeback season, Peterson is going to watch the game from the sidelines.

Once again Derrius Guice will be the starter for the two consecutive years, and coach Jay Gruden has been outspoken about Guice being the focal point of the game.

“We feel like he can be a first, second and even a third-down back,” Gruden told reporters this week. “I think the offence, carries wise, will probably go through him, pretty much.”

34 years of age Peterson, will be watching the game from sidelines. And you can guess how he will respond to his fate.

A reporter asked the coach whether Peterson could be inactive this week. Gruden said that the decision will be taken on Sunday. On probed about his status, Peterson said, “At the end of the day, I’m pleased to do what they ask me to do. That’s all I can do.”

Peterson signed a contract for 2-years worth upto $8 million prior to the season. Out of which, $1.5 million was already guaranteed; and now, since he is on the roster for week 1, an additional $1 million is guaranteed.
